Registration Deadline for General Election – October 14, 2026

Do You want to change your Party Affiliation? Have you moved recently, changed your name or are no longer serving a sentence of incarceration? Do you want to update your signature?
Deadline to change address or name for General Election is Oct 13, 2026
Any eligible registered voter can vote by mail in NJ, but you need to apply.
Mail-In Ballots will be sent ONLY to people who requested them.

How to Complete and Return Your Vote-By-Mail Ballot.

Any questions about your signature of record, or you need a replacement ballot because of misplacement, marked incorrectly, ripped, ate by the dog, etc. then contact the Morris County Clerk at 973-285-6066 or Board of Elections at 973-285-6715 or elections@co.morris.nj.us. 1. By Mail– Mail-In Ballots sent via USPS must be postmarked by General Election Day, Tuesday, November 4, 2026, and received no later than Monday, November 11, 2026.
2. Use a secure Ballot Drop Box– Ballot Drop Boxes will be closed and locked at 8 PM on Election Day.
3. In-Person Deadline to deliver your Mail-In Ballot in-person to the County Clerk at 10 Court Street in Morristown is by 8 PM on Election Day. See instructions for in-person delivery.
You can use any Drop Box located in Morris County – (Washington Twp has one conveniently located at the Police Station on Schooley’s Mountain Rd.)
Mail-In Ballot voters can change their mind and not use their paper ballot to vote. You can go to your assigned polling place and vote in person using a paper ballot, which is called a “Provisional Ballot”. The Provisional Ballot will be processed once all Mail-In Ballots have been received and tabulated. This security process ensures that voters do not vote more than once in any election.
Ballots for Washington Twp voters for the General Election will be mailed by the Morris County Clerk on September 20, 2026. If you don’t receive your ballot within a week of the mailing date, then please contact the Morris County Clerk’s Office -973-285-6120 or ccemail@co.morris.nj.us.
Early voting is an opportunity for voters that have not requested a mail-in ballot to vote on a voting machine prior to election day. In Person Voting on machines at designated early voting polling locations. Electronic poll books and the new voting machines will provide voters around the county with access to their ballot at any of the seven Early Voting locations.
