Update your Voter Registration Information

Information on Registering to Vote

  • To check if you are registered,  click HERE.
  • Registration deadline for the general election is Tuesday, October 18, 2022. However, if you need to register or update your registration, you should do so right away. There are a number of steps required to assure that you records will be updated and you receive your mailed ballot on time. So, don’t delay!
  • To register using paper form.  You can find the registration form for Morris County here. Print it, fill it out and mail it in.
    • If you don’t have a printer, You can call the County Clerk’s office, or the Municipal Clerks office and they will mail the form to you or arrange for you to pick one up.
  • To register Online.  You can register ONLINE to vote. (keep scrolling – more information about online registration is below)
  • If you are on parole or probation, you can still register to vote.  Formerly incarcerated people on parole or probation are allowed to register and vote.
  • If you have changed your namemoved, or want to change political party affiliation, you need to completely fill out a new Voter Registration form and submit it to the Board of Elections. (keep scrolling – more information is below)

What You Will Need:

To register online, you will need your date of birth and one of the following forms of identification:

  • A current and valid Driver’s License or a non-driver Identification Card (ID card) issued by the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC)
    Your information will be provided to the MVC to validate identification, and to retrieve a copy of your digitized signature.
  • Social Security number
    To use your social security number, you must have the ability to sign on-screen or upload your signature to complete the registration process. If you are unable to provide a digital signature, you can not register online. Click here to download the voter registration application for your county.

Update Your Voter Registration

If you have changed your namemoved, or want to change political party affiliation, you need to completely fill out a new Voter Registration form and submit it to the Board of Elections.

*changed your name, *moved, or *want to change political party affiliation or *update signature

You need to re-register to vote after you move, even if you were previously registered. Filing a change-of-address with the USPS DOES NOT automatically update your voter registration information

Name Change

If you have legally changed your name, you must fill out a new Voter Registration form and submit it 21 days before an election.

Address Change

If you have either moved within Morris County, or into Morris County you must fill out a new Voter Registration form and submit it 21 days before an election.

If you have moved out of Morris County, but within New Jersey, you will need to complete a voter registration form in your new county. Find your form here.

If you have moved out of New Jerseyfill out a cancellation form and submit online or download and mail it to Morris County Board of Elections, PO Box 900, Morristown, NJ 07963-0900. You cannot cancel your voter registration by phone, only via the form.

Party Affiliation Change

If you would like to change your Political Party Affiliation (such as Democrat, Republican, or Unaffiliated), you will need to complete a new voter registration form 55 days before a primary election.

Note: if you are Unaffiliated, you can declare a party (Democrat or Republican) at the polls on Primary Election Day. However, you cannot change your party that day – if you are already affiliated, you must change it by the deadline.

Signature Update

Your signature can be updated at any time using a regular voter registration form
